It is a trademarked company name with no affiliation to Host Excellence or ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), and this is an example of the snail mailed letters sent to domain owners from them.
The mailers sent to domain owners have in the past confused domain owners and caused them to transfer their registration and pay significantly more to do so than if they had re-registered the domain name with our services.
About the whois listing; whois is public information. Depending on what whois look up a viewer is using, the whois query can display domain name, Current Registrar, IP Address, Registrant name, Registrant address, Registrant phone number, Registrant email address, Domain name servers, and Domain expiration date.
I hope this information is helpful.
Luna
Host Excellence
Customer Relations

Re: What the mailman dragged in

Um, couple questions Faith.
How come you wrote Amer*** letters? Maybe I should ask what that means? Am I missing something here? Is that, "America Letters?" And if so, what does it mean? Is there something wrong with spelling America? Do you believe "America" is at fault here? Because a very large portion of these spamming idiots reside in a few tiny countries where their govs are incapable of preventing them from spreading their trash?
Anyway, the other point: as it is now, if someone buys a website through most hosting services, like yourself, when you go to WHOIS, it only shows you or whoever the host is? I had a site through you and several other companies, and checked that it was so.
So, is this something above and beyond that?

Re: What the mailman dragged in

@Gchurch

That is an interesting read. I found a few articles on it but I'm honestly not very good at interpreting law language. I assure you that we do not want to steal away your domain registration as that would of course be bad for business. You may transfer it away at anytime or even cancel the domain privacy if you find that you don't want or need it anymore.

For the base accounts to recieve payments there is no monthly rate (this will change based on the number of transactions you process). PayPal fees can vary based on transaction. The best way to find out exactly what it will cost you is to review the information provided by PayPal's support.

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin...

Hope this helps!

Yep! You can use PayPal with your OsCommerce shopping cart; here's a link to a tutorial on Siteground: http://www.siteground.com/tuto.... You do need to sign up with Paypal first in order to get this going, but Paypal doesn't offer technical support on integration. If you do run into problems, the oscommerce forums are usually really helpful. Here's a link to the PayPal discussions already going on: http://forums.oscommerce.com/f....

Hope it goes smoothly! :)

Re: Paypal Integration: For Our Business and Yours

Can Paypal be integrated with an existing OsCommerce site?

Re: Paypal Integration: For Our Business and Yours

Hey Mel,

Thanks for the comment! It is true that it's not exactly correct to call Paypal's service "free," although when you consider the increased business you get by just having it, it is an easy "price" to live with. Thanks for pointing that out, though!

Re: Paypal Integration: For Our Business and Yours

I agree with your comments about PayPal and how worthwhile it is. We use Web Standard on our museum site for memberships and donations and the implementation using PHP was straightforward. You might mention for developers that there is excellent documentation and a 'sandbox' site for testing.

Our customers appreciate that they do not have to reveal their credit card details to us (PayPal is a much more secure site) and there is no possibility of us inadvertently revealing this information.

You mention that PayPal is "free", which is not really true of course; they take a percentage of sales. Nonetheless, it's still worthwhile.

Re: How will we blow you away, exactly? I will quickly answer your questions:
a) tech support is not going away. it's improving. not only you can call the 1-800 number to talk to somebody when you need it, but you'll have your very own personal hero who will help you, via the phone, messenger, skype, email, and so on.
b) yes, we will have a site building software, which we think it's much better than SiteStudio. For a period of time, SiteStudio will be available to existing customers even on the new platform
c) the new platform is available to both linux users and windows users.
d) I am not ready to tell you if you will have a choice to stay with the old platform or not, but why would you want that? Why stick with a 1978 Yugo when you can have a brand new 2010 Cadillac for free in exchange?

Re: Introducing Imperia

I’ve voted.
Thank you.

Re: Introducing Imperia

Dear Fathi
